The inspirations are unleashed from my heart.
Spirit guides me and is with me as I create..

Pamela has been exhibiting mixed media collage art & photography for the past 35+ years.  With her background in photography,
she draws on that strong sense of design and composition. She is able to use that strength in creating her Spirit led mixed media collage art.

Pamela Chiasson’s mixed media collage is a soul purpose. Her creative process is a very personal journey that opens her up and is guided as she walks through the process and gives her art a voice of love, acceptance and a sense of purpose with healing and restoration.

Her journey in art is always showing her something new, something beautiful. She’s aspires to craft a message of love, faith, hope, truth, grace and healing with an authenticity that springs forth from the work.

My life is my creative process and I ask myself all the time how do I get that
on a canvas...? The ideas that bubble up from being inspired by nature, reflection, praying, journaling, quiet time, a verse, a song, my walk, my life, my experiences, my pain,
my joy and Gods promises.

Pamela's art work is about identity, truth, hope, bravery and restoration of who we are. The freedom to move and breathe in this world. Being brave enough to let the light in us shine. She started the horse series to represent this truth in her life. Horses represent freedom of movement in all that they are. The feathers represent protection, flight, individualism and strength. Her process starts with laying her hands on the layer of the gessoed panel. As a way to begin the connection to what is going to be created. She lay's down paint in play on the board with the freedom of just moving paint. She put's anywhere from 6-10 layers of paint with sanding, scratching, mark making, glazing and collage in between. There is always one layer that creates the struggle of every painting she has  ever created. She wrestle's with it, leave's it be, come's back to it and it's still not settled and then she remember's to trust the process over and over and once she has a peace of trusting the process through the ugly stage and release's the struggle, something beautiful comes to be. This is the point that she goes back to create the horse and all its bravery.. We are brave, we are strong, we are beautiful, we are courageous, we persevere, we are freedom. Remember there's beauty in your bravery. Note-The series was inspired by Native American ledger art.

Pamela uses all kinds of found objects, whether it be a rusted piece of metal or a piece of birch bark just shed from its tree.
She also finds inspiration from tattered bibles, hymnals, old ephemera, German scrap, reused coffee filters, vintage journals and things that she finds in her travels. She uses acrylic paints, mark making tools, spray paint, color pencils, water soluble crayons, ink and other fun supplies at her Mill studio. The process of incorporating these materials with the mix of collage and acrylic paint in developing new layers of meaning that form the mixed media collage art message.
